Our congregation is composed of people of all ages and
backgrounds, as well as many different beliefs. Presbyterians hold to the notion that belief and practice
should be governed by each person’s own conscience. Of course, we are guided by our study of Scripture, the
historic confessions of the church, and the teachings of our pastors. Nobody at First
Presbyterian Church will tell you what you have to believe to be saved. Instead we will commend to you
the words of St. Paul in Romans, chapter 10, verse 9: “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and
believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Most of the work of the church is done by the people in the
pews. First Presbyterian Church of Lincoln offers plenty of opportunities for
Christian service. If gardening
interests you, there’s a place for you in our community garden; if you enjoy a
good book study, come read and discuss with us; and if you are artistic, we
welcome your gifts! We also
welcome people who are interested in worship, the ministry of visitation,
church maintenance, finance, and missions.
We hope you will come and share your gifts, and your life,
with us!
